Notting Hill, West London
A beautifully converted Victorian Drill Hall in the heart of West London. The original plans for the first conversion of St James Hall into a drill hall can be traced back to 1915, with the site dating back to the mid-1800’s, formerly as grouping of Victorian residential properties.
The project was to return the hall to a family home as the site had once been, while preserving the history of its time as drill hall.
To truly capture and reflect the deep well of history that this home has to offer, we chose to mirror the essence of its Victorian heritage while bringing in our signature playful style to elevate the home to reach its full majestic potential. The expansive walls could hold nearly any shade with finesse but there are a few modern colour schemes which look particularly sleek in Victorian homes. As such, we chose fresh whites and light neutrals with splashes of dignified deep purples, and stately coppers and golds to personify its ‘old meets new’ aesthetic.
Taking cues from the traditional Victorian era style of ornate edges and plush velvet fabrics, we incorporated signature furniture throughout the home, bringing depth and richness to play against the bright, high vaulted ceilings and wealth of light that spills into the home from the great arched windows. The result is a home curated with timeless charm and serenity.
